Best High Chairs of 2026: Mom-Tested Picks for Every Budget

Best high chairs of 2026 lineup featuring top picks for infants, foldable, affordable, luxury, and portable high chairs

My favorite high chair for the baby stage is the Mockingbird. It is the one I use every day with my third, mostly because it is so easy to clean. For the toddler years, I still reach for our Stokke Tripp Trapp chairs. Those are my two favorites, but they solve different problems.

The best high chair for your family also depends on your dining table, floor space, budget, and whether you need to fold it between meals. Below, I’ll walk through what I like and what frustrates me about each option.

After testing and researching dozens of high chairs, I’ve rounded up the best of 2026 for every kind of family. Whether you’re short on space, love sleek design, or need something that grows with your child, there is sure to be one for your family in this lineup.

My quick picks: Mockingbird for everyday baby-stage use, Tripp Trapp for the toddler years, Inglesina My Time if you need a folding chair with more features, and Graco Slim Snacker if price and easy storage matter most.

Best highchairs at a glance

High chairWhy I would choose itWhat I would think twice about
MockingbirdMy favorite for easy cleaning during the baby stage. It does not fold, and I prefer other chairs for older toddlers.
Stokke Tripp TrappA wooden high chair I still use with my older girls at the dining table.More work to clean in baby mode; adjustments need tools.
Inglesina My TimeA folding high chair with height and recline adjustments. It takes up a lot of dining room space when open.
Graco Slim SnackerA lower-cost high chair that is very easy to fold. The seat pad takes more effort to clean, and the footrest is fixed.
Graco DuoDinerHeight adjustments and the option to convert to a booster seat.A bigger chair with more parts to clean.
Lalo Hook-On ChairA portable high chair with a footrest, tray, and travel bag.Your table must meet its installation requirements.
Inglesina Fast Table ChairA portable option I have used at restaurants and on trips. No footrest; the tray is a separate purchase.

What to Look for When Buying a High Chair

It’s challenging to determine what’s truly important when purchasing a high chair, especially since there’s a lot of marketing and countless opinions from other parents, all claiming their high chair is the best. Can we be honest with ourselves… Do we really need our high chair to turn into a kids’ table?

As a mom of three, I have found that these are the most important things to consider when looking for a high chair.

  1. Easy to Clean: Because you will hate one that is not!
  2. Ergonomic Position: Adjustable footrest and ergonomic seating
  3. Safety: Use the included safety harness correctly, including the crotch strap, and check the exact model for recalls. The tray does not replace the harness.
  4. Ease of Use: Do you need tools to adjust it? How many extra parts do you have to keep track of?
  5. Lifestyle: Small House, portable, use from birth, tall or standard table, etc.

Compare the cost of the setup you actually need, including any baby set, tray, cushion or newborn attachment. A chair’s starting price may not include everything shown in the photos.

The details I would check before buying

A high chair gets cleaned several times a day, so look beyond whether the food tray wipes clean. Check the seat bottom, seat cushion or seat cover, shoulder straps, and the spaces where crumbs collect. A removable tray liner is useful, but “dishwasher safe” may apply only to the liner, not the main tray. That distinction is one reason I like Mockingbird’s silicone-coated straps and simple seat.

Measure the chair with the tray attached and leave room to walk around it. For small spaces, a compact footprint and a folding chair solve different problems: one stays out of your way during meals, while the other gives you floor space back afterward. If you want baby at the family table with the tray removed, check the chair’s height against your table before ordering.

I would also decide how you want to use the chair after the baby stage. A booster seat attaches to an adult dining chair; a toddler chair stands on its own. “Grows with your child” can mean either, and the conversion parts may be purchased separately.

Best Overall High Chair – Mockingbird High Chair

Mockingbird High Chair, best overall high chair of 2026

The Mockingbird High Chair truly is the best overall high chair on the market and is the one I use every day with my third (and I am not paid to say this!). It is so easy to clean, functional for parent and baby, and they just added new colors, which was the one thing that was missing for me when I made my full review of this high chair.

The Mockingbird High Chair is even better than the Stokke Tripp Trapp for the baby stage. I love how close the tray comes to the baby, the buckle holders, how easy it is to clean, the easy adjustments, and more.

Price: $249 – Receive a Feeding Set with purchase with link & code EMSTROLLER(Add to cart)
Age & Weight Limits: High chair mode starts when baby can sit upright unassisted, usually around 6 months, up to 35 lbs. Child chair mode supports up to 150 lbs.
Adjustable Footrest: Yes
Add-ons: None

Pros:

  • Easy to clean
  • Small footprint
  • Magnetic buckles and buckle holders
  • Two trays for easy cleaning

Cons:

  • No newborn set yet, but I’ve confirmed through my source that Mockingbird is releasing a baby seat in 2027!
  • Just okay as a toddler chair

Best Luxury High Chair – Stokke Tripp Trapp

Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair, best runner-up luxury high chair

This high chair has truly stood the test of time and is my favorite of all the high chairs on this list for the toddler years. I actually own two of them for my older girls and still use them with my 4- and 6-year-olds. It, however, is not my favorite for the baby stage.

The straps and tray are hard to clean. The buckle was recently improved, but it is very difficult to use on older versions. The adjustments are archaic and require tools and a lot of muscle, and quite frankly, they need an update. That said, this high chair does give a good ergonomic position for the baby, has a newborn set, and can be used for years beyond the baby years. I’ve even heard of some people passing this down through generations of their families!

Order the Stokke Tripp Trapp on Nordstrom, Amazon, or Stokke.

Price: $219-$400+, depending on color, if you want the baby set, tray, etc.
Age: 0 months + 300 lbs
Adjustable Footrest: Yes
Add-ons: Newborn Set, Baby Set, cushions, and more!

Pros:

  • Amazing for toddlers
  • Lots of design options to match any home
  • Use from birth with the newborn set

Cons:

  • Hard to adjust
  • Not the easiest to clean
  • Not portable

I used to recommend the Bugaboo Giraffe over this one, but the longer I have used it, the less I like it. While it is a lot easier to adjust the footrest, it is not as good of a toddler chair, and I find that other options are better during the baby stage (for example, the tray does not come as close to the baby, and the straps are not as easy to clean as other options on this list).

Best Folding High Chair – Inglesina My Time

Inglesina My Time high chair, best folding high chair of 2026

The My Time high chair by Inglesina has been one of my picks for families who want something that looks beautiful in their home but can fold and store between meals.

The recline and height adjustments are what make the My Time different from a simple wooden high chair. It has a plush seat that is easy to wipe down and a second tray that pops off with one hand. Follow the instructions for your model’s infant mode; a reclined position is not for eating solid foods.

Price: $299 – Shop the Inglesina My Time
Age: Birth -36 months
Adjustable Footrest: Kind-of (you can position it up and down)
Add-ons: None

Pros:

  • Second washable tray
  • Can be counter or table height
  • Non-Toxic

Cons:

  • I wish it had wheels
  • Large when not folded
  • Straps are hard to clean

Best Budget & Folding High Chair – Graco Slim Snacker

Best budget folding high chair - Graco Slim Snackers

I am giving you two options on folding high chairs because it is hard to beat the price point of the Graco Slim Snacker and how easy it is to fold. I even included this in my best budget baby gear video!

I used this at a friend’s cabin, and while it is not the easiest to clean, it is incredibly easy to fold and store. I also really like the storage basket underneath. The recline is nice for bottle feedings or having baby at the table during meals starting at around 3 months.

Order the Graco Slim Snacker on Target or Amazon.

Price: $99
Age: 3-36 months
Adjustable Footrest: No
Add-ons: None

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Foldable
  • Storage

Cons:

  • Kind of hard to clean
  • The footrest is not adjustable

Another good folding option is the Mamazing Growpod Pro. I compare it here to the Graco Slim Snacker and Ingelsina My Time high chairs in this video:

Best Budget High Chair – Graco Duo Diner

Graco Duo Diner high chair, best budget high chair pick

The Graco DuoDiner was my first high chair, and you can even check out a comparison I made to the Stokke Tripp Trapp. If you want more features than the Graco Slim Snacker without spending a ton more, the Graco DuoDiner is a nice balance! You get two relatively easy-to-clean trays, it is easy to move around your house, and you can use it starting at 3 months. I really liked that we could feed my second baby a bottle in the high chair at the table, which you cannot do with the wood-style high chairs.

Buy the Graco DuoDiner on Amazon or Target.

Price: $161
Age: 3 Months – 60 lbs
Adjustable Footrest: Yes
Add-ons: None

Pros:

  • Height adjustable for table or counter height
  • Easy to Move
  • Grows with your child + turn into a booster

Cons:

  • Big
  • Not super easy to clean

Best Travel High Chair – Lalo Hook-On Chair

A hook-on high chair with a footrest – sign me up! I recently started testing the Lalo Hook-on Chair, and I am so impressed. It comes with everything you need for $89 and has a footrest which is something the other competitors on the market have been missing.

It clamps securely onto most tables (not glass tables or ones with lips) in minutes, folds flat for travel, stores in the included storage bag, and gives your baby a proper seat at the table. The tray bubbles up a little in the middle, but it is easy to clean and store.

Here’s a comparison between the Lalo Hook-On Chair vs Inglesina’s Fast Table Chair:

Order on Lalo or Target

Price: $89
Age: 6 months – 37 lbs
Adjustable Footrest: Yes!
Add-ons: None – Everything you need is included

Pros:

  • Compact
  • Portable
  • Includes footrest, tray and travel bag
  • Fabrics can be machine-washed!

Cons:

  • Takes a while to secure
  • Does not work on all tables
  • The storage bag is not attached to the chair, so it’s easier to lose.

Best Runner-Up Travel High Chair – Inglesina Fast Table Chair

Inglesina Fast Table Chair, best runner-up travel high chair

If you travel a lot or are tight on space, the Inglesina Fast Table Chair is a total game-changer. I’ve taken this thing to restaurants, grandma’s house, even on vacation, and this is even my second one because I left my first at Costco…

It clamps securely onto most tables in minutes (it does take a bit of time to get it just right), folds flat for travel, stores in the attached storage bag, and gives your baby a proper seat at the table. Plus, the fabric wipes down surprisingly well.

Order on Amazon or Target

Price: $89
Age: 6 months – 37 lbs
Adjustable Footrest: No
Add-ons: Tray

Pros:

  • Compact
  • Portable
  • Non-toxic

Cons:

  • Takes a while to secure
  • The tray is not included
  • Does not work on all tables
  • No footrest

What about the MomCozy Dinerpal High Chair?

MomCozy Dinerpal high chair with tray attached

I did not learn about the Momcozy Dinerpal high chair until after this video was released, but I quickly started receiving a lot of questions about it. I tested it and was overall impressed, but it was very heavy and not the easiest to clean. In recent years, I have had some hesitations about how this company operates behind the scenes, and I’ve decided I won’t be reviewing their products moving forward.

I personally recommend the Mockingbird instead.

Price: $299 Use link and code EMILYCHAIR to save!
Age: 6 months to 308 lbs

Add-ons: Cushion

Order on MomCozy!

Pros:

  • Grows with baby
  • Sturdy & has a nice aesthetic

  • Heavy

  • Not practical as a learning tower

Lalo High Chair II

I didn’t love the first version of this high chair, but they really did take feedback and made so many amazing changes with this seat!! Read my full Lalo Chair II review for what I liked, what I’d change, and who it’s best for.

Graco Close2Baby

Graco Close2baby High Chair

I love that this one includes a baby seat so you can have the baby next to you at the table from birth!

4 High Chairs I Don’t Love

IKEA high chair: why the Antilop is not my pick

While very affordable, it requires accessories to make it ergonomic, and the tray is not easy to remove. Many of my friends have this high chair, and the added accessories, like the footrest, fall off regularly with use.

Ergobaby Evolve

Large Footprint and is not user-friendly.

Stokke Clikk

Big footprint and not a lot of adjustability. I do like that it can be taken apart for travel.

Baby Trend Sit Right

Poor quality and hard to clean.

High chair or booster seat?

I would choose a traditional high chair when I want a dedicated feeding seat without giving up an adult dining chair. A booster seat can save floor space, but it needs a compatible adult chair and the attachment straps specified by its manufacturer. Do not assume that every dining chair is a suitable base.

For an older child joining the family table, compare the booster with a freestanding toddler chair. My Tripp Trapp chairs let my girls sit at the dinner table with support under their feet. If you want to reuse one purchase through several stages, check what converts, the limits for each mode, and which pieces you need to keep.

Safety harness and footrest: check the fit

A three-point harness and a five-point harness use different strap arrangements. Use the complete safety harness supplied with your chair, including the shoulder straps when provided. The tray is there for food, not to keep your baby in the seat. Keep fingers clear when moving the tray or changing the chair’s height.

The footrest should support your child’s feet in the position described by the chair’s instructions. As your baby grows, check the seat depth, tray distance, and footrest together. A high chair that fits well today may need another adjustment in a few weeks.

High Chair FAQs

When can a baby start using a high chair?

Use the age, size, and sitting requirements in your chair’s instructions. For eating solids, your baby needs good head and neck control and an upright, supported position. A newborn attachment or recline feature does not mean a baby is ready to eat solids. Always supervise meals and use the harness. The AAP’s high chair safety tips are a useful starting point.

What is the 90-90-90 position?

It is a way to describe supported sitting with roughly right angles at the hips, knees, and ankles. An adjustable footrest helps bring support to your baby’s feet as they grow. I look at how my child actually fits in the chair, rather than assuming an “ergonomic” label means every baby will fit it well.

Which high chair is easiest to clean?

Of the chairs I use, Mockingbird is my favorite for everyday cleaning. The smooth seat, wipe-clean straps, and removable tray liner are the biggest reasons. I prefer the Tripp Trapp for my older girls, but its baby set and tray take more effort to clean. My full Mockingbird review shows the details.

Is a hook-on high chair a good everyday option?

It can be useful for travel or a small dining space, but the table has to meet that specific chair’s installation requirements. Check the thickness, edge shape, and table type. I would choose between the Lalo Hook-On and Inglesina Fast Table Chair only after confirming that my table is compatible.

Final Thoughts

There are numerous high chairs to choose from, making the selection process so overwhelming. Some, like the Uppababy Ciro, Skip Hop, and Hauck Alpha+ Chair, I like, but they just did not make my top or bottom list.
