Zoe Twin V3 Review

EMILY’S TAKE

The Zoe Twin was the first side-by-side double stroller I purchased, and let me tell you right off the bat, it was a great investment. With the V3, you now get newborn-ready seats, a magnetic buckle and a no-rethread harness. I took it through Europe and it did really well. I love that it is lightweight and can grow beyond two kids. I still wish it stood when folded and that the brake were a little more flip-flop friendly.

Zoe Twin V3 Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The canopies are what Stroller Mom dreams are made of! Great coverage, individual adjustment and magnetic peekaboo windows.
  • Lightweight for a double: It is easy to lift and traveled well for us in Europe.
  • Newborn-ready main seats: Both have a Newborn Cocoon, plus you can use one compatible infant car seat.
  • More room to grow: Tall canopies, generous seat limits and the option to add a third or fourth seat.
  • Useful V3 upgrades: Magnetic buckles, a no-rethread harness, softer-feeling materials and rider-board compatibility.

Cons

  • It doesn’t stand when folded. One of my biggest frustrations with the Twin is still here.
  • Two-handed fold: You pull the straps in both seats to fold it.
  • The brake takes more effort: It is less flip-flop friendly, and I make sure it engages on both sides.
  • Long-stride parents may kick the brake bar: The adjustable handlebar helps with height, but does not remove that bar.
  • Only one infant car seat at a time: Both seats have newborn setups, but you cannot attach two car seats.
  • Not my first choice for frequent rough terrain: All-terrain wheels can help, but they add weight and bulk.

Who it’s best for

  • Families with a baby and toddler or two young children close in age. The V3 adds newborn setups in both main seats while keeping the side-by-side layout I enjoy.
  • Parents who want a lighter double for travel and everyday outings. It worked well for us through Europe, and I like it for a trunk-to-store lifestyle.
  • Families who may need room for a third or fourth child. The Trio and Tribe add-on seats are a big part of what makes Zoe different.
  • Families with twins who are happy using the newborn seats. Both main seats have Newborn Cocoons, even though it only holds one car seat at a time.

Reasons to choose another stroller

  • You need two infant car seats attached at once. The Bombi Twin V2 offers that with its compatible dual adapter; Zoe takes one.
  • You want a one-handed fold that stands on its own. The Zoe requires two hands and does not stand when folded.
  • You have a long stride and dislike a rear brake bar. The Zoe handlebar adjusts, but the brake bar can still get in your way.
  • You regularly walk on rough trails or gravel roads. Upgraded wheels help, but for that as your main use I would look at a side-by-side jogging stroller.

How I tested it

The Zoe Twin V2 was the first side-by-side double stroller I purchased, and let me tell you right off the bat, it was a great investment. I had a newborn baby and a two-year-old who still loved riding in the stroller, and the only option I had was a stacked or inline double stroller. The uneven weight distribution and the length made pushing a challenge, so I decided to purchase the Zoe Twin.

That was my experience with the V2. This review covers the Twin V3. I took the Zoe to Europe.

We used the Zoe on cobblestone, gravel, bumpy sidewalks and cracks, and it did really, really well throughout that trip. I also looked at the fold, child fit, brakes, basket and car-seat setups.

Value & included accessories

Zoe strollers have a nice blend of quality and price. The V3 adds things I think families will actually use: newborn setups, magnetic buckles, no-rethread harnesses and a stronger basket.

You get the belly bar, two child cup holders and a snack cup with the stroller. The full snack tray, parent organizer, car-seat adapter and all-terrain wheels are separate purchases.

I still highly recommend the Zoe parent organizer. It fits well and gives me an easy place for keys, my phone and drinks. If that is something you know you want, I would include it when you are deciding on your overall budget.

Seat comfort & child fit

The canopies are what Stroller Mom dreams are made of! They operate independently and give really good coverage. The magnetic peekaboo windows open quietly and stay open, so I can check on a sleeping child without pulling back the whole canopy.

I really like the soft knit material. There is also mesh behind the reclined seats for added airflow.

Zoe Twin V3 rear seat panels with one mesh ventilation flap open and the other closed.

The seats are decently upright and give taller kiddos room to grow. The V3 has a no-rethread harness and magnetic buckles.

Both footrests adjust independently, and there is a lower footrest for taller toddlers. I like having that extra place for their feet as they grow.

Check your exact model and setup instructions with the manufacturer before use.

The V3 is a big improvement here. Both main seats have a built-in Newborn Cocoon and a deeper recline. Set up each cocoon with the seat fully reclined according to Zoe’s instructions. This makes it an option for newborn twins without having to attach two car seats.

It still only takes one infant car seat at a time. If two click-in car seats are a priority for you, that is a reason to look at another stroller. The compatible brands and models are listed above, and the correct adapter is sold separately.

One thing I really liked: I could use the included snack cup on one side while using the car-seat adapter on the other. My older child could still get in and out easily.

You can also add a compatible Trio or Tribe seat as your family grows, and I’ve been really impressed with Zoe’s rider board. Just keep in mind that the add-on seats have their own age and setup requirements. They do not have the same built-in newborn setup as these two main seats.

Push & everyday use

STEERING & TURNING

Good

Ease of turning and navigating tight spaces, compared with other lightweight side-by-side double strollers.

UNEVEN SURFACES

Good

How it pushes over bumps, gravel, and uneven sidewalks, compared with other lightweight side-by-side double strollers.

I want a stroller I can lift and load easily, and the Zoe works well for that.

The Zoe handled the cobblestone, gravel and uneven sidewalks on our Europe trip really well. Occasional rough patches are different from spending every day on gravel roads. Zoe sells larger all-terrain wheels, but those add weight.

Side view of Emily pushing the Zoe Twin V3, showing the handlebar, walking stride and loaded basket.

The handlebar adjusts, which is useful for shorter parents. Taller parents should also pay attention to the brake bar. The bar sticks out behind the stroller and can get in the way of a long stride.

The brake is not the most flip-flop-friendly brake I have used. Pulling it up takes more effort, and when I press it down, I make sure it engages on both sides.

Rear view of Emily pushing the Zoe Twin V3 toward a stone castle, with outing essentials in the underseat basket.

The basket gave us room for our diaper bags on trips. Zoe lists the V3 basket capacity at 22 pounds, a substantial increase over the 10-pound limit in my older V2 review.

Folding, carrying & travel

EASE OF FOLDING

Easy

The Zoe Twin V3 folds down quickly and easily, but it does require two hands. Pull the straps in the seats and bring the stroller together.

Emily holding the folded Zoe Twin V3 in front of her, showing its size and wheels.

Okay, confession: one of my BIGGEST frustrations with this stroller is still that it does not stand when folded. It is not a deal breaker, but this review would not be honest if I did not bring it up. You can balance it with the handlebar on the ground, but I do not count that as a proper standing fold.

I flew with it to Europe and used a padded travel bag for gate-checking. This is a double stroller to gate-check, not an overhead-bin stroller.

If you add a Trio or Tribe seat, that extra seat needs to come off for folding and storage. That is another step, but the ability to carry more than two kids may make it worthwhile for your family.

Zoe Twin V2 vs V3: what changed?

The biggest V3 changes are the built-in Newborn Cocoons, deeper recline, magnetic buckles, no-rethread harness, upgraded padded seats, stronger basket and rider-board compatibility. The current V3 weighs more than the 23-pound V2 in my original review, but it also gives you more newborn flexibility.

If you are shopping used, check the version before relying on newborn or car-seat compatibility claims. My older Nuna TRVL DUBL comparison uses the Zoe V2. Its V2-specific specs and newborn limitations should not be applied to the V3.

Zoe Twin V3 vs Bombi Twin V2 | Which is the better side-by-side double stroller?

  • Bombi wins on fold: Its one-handed auto-fold stands on its own. Zoe uses two seat straps to fold and does not stand normally when folded.
  • Bombi wins on push and two-car-seat use: I found it a little easier to maneuver on standard wheels, and it can take two compatible infant car seats with its dual adapter. Zoe takes one car seat at a time.
  • Zoe is lighter and more adjustable: It is easier to lift and has an adjustable handlebar, while Bombi’s handlebar is fixed.
  • Zoe can grow beyond two kids: Zoe offers Trio and quad add-on seats, as well as a rider board. Bombi stays a two-seat stroller.
