A new stroller has just been added to the midsize range, which is one of my favorite categories! The Silver Cross Breez brings a foldable bassinet, a newborn recline right in the seat, a reversible seat, and a height adjustment that works in car seat mode, bassinet mode, or seat mode. I have been testing this stroller with my kids, and I am so excited to give you my honest review and help you decide if it is the right option for your family.

Silver Cross just released its “folding family” in the US, and I am thrilled about it! The Silver Cross Nia is also part of this lineup, and if you are not already subscribed to my YouTube channel, be sure to do so because that review is coming very soon. The Nia took my followers by storm when it was released in the UK because it is the only travel stroller with a foldable bassinet that actually fits in the overhead bin. But then came the Breez, falling into the midsize category, which is one of my favorites because you get a lightweight, more compact stroller that still has all the features new parents look for, like a reversible seat.

There are two ways you can purchase the Silver Cross Breez. You can get the stroller with just the seat, which includes a newborn recline so you can use it from birth into toddlerhood, or you can get the bundle that includes the foldable bassinet and the seat.

For the stroller price, you get the frame, a seat with a seat liner, a bumper bar, and a rain cover. If you purchase the bassinet bundle, you get the bassinet as well, and the rain cover works on both. You can also purchase several accessories separately, including a cup holder, car seat adapters, a Silver Cross diaper bag designed to hang on the stroller, and a parent organizer.

Handlebar

The Breez has a one-hand adjustable handlebar that reaches a decent height for taller parents, and it also goes to a nice lower setting. I just had a follower comment on TikTok that they were looking for a stroller where the canopy was not too high to see over, and this would be a really good option. That is a nice benefit of the midsize category: you have a smaller frame and chassis, so if you are on the shorter side, this could work really well for you.

I also really like how Silver Cross positioned the brake and the bar on the back a little higher than what you typically see. You still get that good reinforcement in the frame, but you are not going to be kicking it as much while walking.

Now, something that is actually unique to Silver Cross: most stroller brands do not want you hanging anything on the handlebar because their strollers are not tested for that. But Silver Cross actually sells a diaper bag that includes straps designed to hang on dedicated knobs on the Breez. This is tested by the brand and designed to work with the bumper bar, which is a really practical touch. I have been testing the diaper bag and think it is a good option overall. There’s not a ton of pockets or storage, but the fact that you can hang it right on the stroller is really cool. They also sell a parent organizer.

Canopy

The canopy on the Breez has a magnetic peekaboo window that stays open, even on windy days. Silver Cross materials just look and feel so luxe, and that is one thing that really sets them apart from other brands.

There is also a zippered canopy extension, plus an additional zippered panel you can add for even more coverage. I did take that extra panel off because my kids are a little older now, and it was blocking their visibility. But it is a good addition, especially when you are using the newborn recline and want maximum sun coverage.

Seat: Comfort, Materials, and Usability

The seat on the Breez has all-weather capability. You can unzip the back panel for added breathability, and there is a seat liner with mesh material that you can add as well. This is great because you can just wash the liner. Then in the winter months, you have that extra layer of warmth.

The harness is no-rethread, which makes it easy to adjust as your child grows or if you are like me and switch between multiple aged kids using the stroller. The padding is plush and actually stays in place.

It has a magnetic buckle that I have mixed feelings about, but it is an improvement over the Silver Cross Jet Double buckle.

My kids were very comfortable in this stroller’s seat. However, when I put my very tall four-year-old (photo on the right) in it, her head was too tall for the canopy. Now, since she is four and Silver Cross advertises this stroller working from birth to age four, she is about to age out of it anyway, but since the seat back is not the tallest, this is something to keep in mind. You can still use it until your child meets the 55-pound weight limit, but from a canopy height perspective, because this is in the midsize category, it does not have the tallest seatback.

Newborn Features and Height Adjustment

This is actually where the Breez really shines. Not only is there a foldable bassinet option, but you also have a newborn recline built right into the seat with multiple recline positions. There is a newborn panel that snaps under the seat for extra support during those first six months. I love that Silver Cross made this removable. You only need it for the first six months or so, and after that, you can take it off, so it is not attached to your stroller every time you fold it. When you need it, it snaps right back on and secures to the bumper bar.

The footrest is large and adjusts with one hand, and I actually found that the extension is much longer than what you typically find on strollers. My one-year-old really loved that extra length. There is also a lower footrest for older children. With the height adjustment on the seat, my four-year-old was able to use the lower footrest comfortably, which is a great add-on.

Speaking of the height adjustment, with the push of a button, you can raise or lower the seat to have your baby closer to you. In midsize strollers, babies tend to sit a little lower because the frame is more compact. Silver Cross thought of that, and you can use this height adjustment in any mode: forward facing, parent facing, bassinet, or car seat. I think that is a really nice feature.

The seat also has memory buttons for switching between parent-facing and forward-facing positions. You can have your baby closer or further away from you, depending on the configuration.

Basket, Brake, and Storage

The basket holds an impressive 22 pounds and is easy to access from the front and just okay from the back. There is a little magnet pocket in the back that is perfect for your phone. Overall, I found the basket very functional for everyday use.

The brake is flip-flop friendly, which I always test for, and super easy to use! One thing to note: if you have the seat in the fully reclined position or are using the bassinet at its higher setting, you may have to feel around a bit to find the brake with your foot. This is not unique to the Breez, but just something to consider. 

Silver Cross Breez Car Seat Compatibility

Silver Cross does not make an infant car seat, but there are plenty of good options with their adapters, which are sold separately. The Breez is compatible with Nuna, Maxi-Cosi, CYBEX, and Clek car seats. The adapters are easy to attach, the car seat connects easily, and you can fold the stroller with the adapters still on, which is a nice convenience.

Folding, Unfolding, and Ease of Use

One of the standout features of the Breez is how compact it folds. It actually folds better with the seat in the parent-facing position, which is great for new parents because you will likely have your baby facing towards you for that first year. Most strollers you have to world face to fold, so not having to turn the seat around to fold the stroller is so nice.

To fold, you pull the seat up towards the handlebar with a simple lever, then push a button and pull a handle underneath, and the stroller folds in half. For the most compact fold, put the handlebar in its lowest position so the stroller stands on its own. But you can also fold it without adjusting the handlebar first, which is something I honestly did a lot because with three children, getting everyone out of the car is enough work on its own.

The stroller pops open easily and works the same way whether the seat is parent-facing or forward-facing. There is a carry strap for when you need to carry it, and the whole thing weighs only 22.6 pounds. That makes it a great option for families who take public transportation. You could easily travel with this stroller, though you would need to gate check it, so I recommend investing in a padded stroller bag. As a suburban mom, I definitely appreciate how much lighter and easier this is to load in and out of the trunk compared to many full-size strollers.

Maneuverability and Performance

We have taken the Breez to parks, gone on grass and gravel, and it has handled all of it really well. Is this an all-terrain stroller? No. But if you are going to be navigating bumpy sidewalks and a variety of terrain, the Breez is going to perform much better than most travel strollers. That is the real benefit of going with a midsize stroller. The suspension is surprisingly good for a stroller this compact.

The wheels on this stroller are super innovative. They feel almost like a soft foam. When I was unboxing and putting the wheels on, I honestly thought I was going to have to inflate them, but you do not.

I love this bassinet. Silver Cross did an amazing job with it. The quality of the materials is really incredible, just like the seat.

One thing I struggled with when using a bassinet with my first baby was not having enough sun coverage. I live in a very warm climate, and so many times we would be walking with the sun behind us, and it would hit the baby right in the face. The Breez bassinet has an extension on the canopy that can cover almost the entire bassinet from the sun, which is a fantastic feature.

There are mesh panels in the bassinet for airflow, and you can also unzip the mesh in the canopy for added ventilation. For colder climates, Silver Cross thought of that too! There is a foot muff extension that even has magnets to keep the panel in place. I have often fought with snaps on other strollers to try to get them to stay. I think the magnets are super innovative and so much easier!

The mattress is plush with a zip-off cover that is easy to wash, which is a really nice detail considering spit-up and baby blowouts that will inevitably happen. 

And, the best part? The bassinet is foldable! Put the handlebar in the lower position, pull a button, and the bassinet folds in half so easily. You can do it all with one hand. If you live in a city and need to carry a bassinet upstairs or onto the subway, this is a really cool feature. To open it, just pull it open from the handlebar (there is no latch, which I actually love), push the bassinet down until it clicks, and you are ready to go.

There is no perfect stroller. Every stroller has trade-offs, and it is about finding what works best for your family’s unique situation.

The Silver Cross Breez is a great option for families looking for a luxe, premium stroller that offers plenty of features while still being compact and lightweight. You get a reversible seat, a newborn recline, a large basket, a decent push, and a really nice compact fold that makes it great for public transportation, apartment living, or a lifestyle like mine, where you are in and out of your car constantly.

This stroller especially shines as a newborn and early years stroller. The foldable bassinet, the newborn recline in the seat, the height adjustment, and the fact that it folds best in parent-facing mode all make it incredibly well-suited for families starting from birth.

Now, is the seat back the tallest? No. So if you are buying this for an older toddler, I would probably look at a different option. If you plan to use it from birth, it has many features for new parents and could be a great fit.
